IQ-scores werden in het begin van de 20e eeuw ontwikkeld om de menselijke intelligentie te meten en worden vaak gebruikt voor het plaatsen van leerlingen in het onderwijs, het evalueren van sollicitanten en het beoordelen van verstandelijke beperkingen. Ondanks recente scepsis over de nauwkeurigheid van IQ-scores als een maatstaf voor intelligentie, worden ze nog steeds op grote schaal gebruikt.

Het Ulster Institute for Social Research loopt voorop in dit onderzoeksveld en heeft gegevens verzameld om het gemiddelde IQ van elk land ter wereld te bepalen. Een IQ van 90 wordt beschouwd als een gemiddelde intelligentie. Bekijk de galerij om de scores van verschillende landen te ontdekken!
